Shayfeen, the iconic Moroccan hip-hop duo comprised of rappers Small X (Abdessamad Lamriq) and Shobee (Chouaib Ribati), forged an undeniable legacy with their raw lyrics and distinctive sound. Formed in 2006, the duo quickly rose to prominence, captivating audiences with their dynamic flows and poignant lyrics that explored themes of ambition, money, and motivation. Their ability to fuse authentic Moroccan narratives, delivered primarily in Darija, with contemporary global hip-hop elements, garnered them a substantial fanbase not only across Morocco and North Africa but also internationally. Their career trajectory began to accelerate around 2009-2010 with early singles such as "Khalla Daro," "7amesni," "Hip Hop Flippa," "Marock," and "Ntouma Malkoum." Following a successful performance at the Génération Mawazine festival in 2010, Shayfeen officially marked their entry into the Moroccan hip-hop scene. In 2011, they released their debut mixtape, *L'energie*, a formidable 15-track project that was mixed by DJ Van and reportedly downloaded over 78,000 times within its first three days, firmly establishing their presence and energetic sound. Over the next few years, Shayfeen continued to build momentum with singles like "Motivated" (2011), "Sahbi" (2011), "Aji Tchoufna" (2011), "S.O.S To Freedom" (2012), "Aal Slama" (2012), "Would Asfi Boss" (2013), "Darss Dl'Flow" (2013), "Ghayb9aw Jouj" (2014), and "Maghandwish" (2014), alongside solo releases from its members, such as Shobee's "Wach Katsma3 Oula" (2013). A pivotal moment arrived on February 7, 2016, with the release of their first official EP, *07*. This seven-track project was a direct homage to their hometown of Safi, referenced in its title, showcasing their evolving style and deepening their connection with their roots. The EP solidified their unique sonic identity and continued to build anticipation for their future endeavors. The duo maintained a prolific output of singles including "7it 3arfinni" (2015), Small X's solo effort "YDF" (2016), "Wach Kayn Maydar" (2017), "OMG" (2017) featuring Tagne, Madd, and West, and "Bzzaf" (2017) with 7liwa. The year 2018 proved to be a major breakthrough. Shayfeen released "Tcha Ra," a collaborative track featuring ElGrandeToto, Madd, Ouenza, and West, which rapidly became a hit. That same year, the duo joined Naar, an international artist collective, extending their influence beyond Morocco and contributing to the *Safar* album in 2019. Their successful singles from this period included "Nah" (2018) featuring Manal and "For The Love" (2018) alongside Madd, West, Nor, and Jonas Benyoub. Their journey and rise in the music industry were also chronicled in the critically acclaimed documentary *Wa Drari*, directed by Fatim Zahra Bencherki and produced by Nabil Ayouch. Aired on 2M, the film explored the challenges faced by young artists pursuing their dreams and earned two awards at the 2019 Mediterranean in Images festival, including the prestigious PRIMED: International Prize for Mediterranean Documentary and Reporting. Shayfeen continued their streak with collaborations such as "Kssiri" (2019) featuring Dosseh, and further solo efforts from its members, including Small X's "HLG" (2019) and Shobee's "L'VIBE" (2019). The duo also released "BLESSED" (2019) and "Koun Wajed" (2020), demonstrating their consistent drive and versatile artistry. Throughout their career, Shayfeen collaborated with a diverse array of Moroccan and international artists, including Laylow, Lacrim, Lomepal, Ahmed Soultan, Don Bigg, DJ Van, Empire Isis, Watcha Clan, Two Tone, Leck, Hornet La Frappe, and Spri Noir, further cementing their status as influential figures in the global hip-hop landscape. Shayfeen's musical style and philosophy were characterized by an energetic and versatile approach to hip-hop. They were renowned for their dynamic delivery, sharp lyricism, and a unique ability to weave various influences into their sound.
